Although this rugby contest was a friendly hosted by Centurion, the first game of the season is always nerve wracking. Called on by one of the parents from Centurion who met WarriorRic at USN’s Call-Up Camp while he was working with the campers, WarriorRic went straight to work on calming the nerves and getting to work on the minds of the 1st Team Rugby Boys excited to kick off the new season.

They had only one week of practice before the match, but showed great skill, camaraderie and love of the game. WarriorRic’s message was all about ‘love of the game’ and teamwork. The players took it all in and beat their opponent 25-13 to rousing cheers and accolades from their coaches, including Mental Performance Coach, WarriorRic.

“I learned from Nelson Mandela that when we show up, we can never lose, only ‘win or learn.’ During the pep talk with the Boys, I expressed to them the importance of working together as a team, showing a love from the game and each other, and adopting a mindset to ‘win and learn.’” WarriroRic is convinced that in order to build a greater society we need to start adopting behaviors of leadership, resilience and kindness. “The opportunity to lend my unique brand of support to the Boys reminded me of the immense amount of hope we can find in our young people.”

Congratulations Centurion High School! You rock!!
